What a playground!

Some of you may remember that last Summer Daddy took Jasper to the Smith Kid's Place in the Park, a great playground in Philadelphia, but at the time I still wasn't old enough to go. Well, now I'm old enough, and Jasper couldn't wait to show me what he was so excited about back then.

The first thing you see when you enter the playground is the giant wooden slide, the signature play element there.

The park workers warned us that they had put a little extra polish on the slide that morning to make it extra fast, and as Daddy and Jasper soon learned, fast it was...

Next, it was my turn -

And then, a race.

(Daddy and I won, but don't tell Jasper - he thinks he won.)

Then, finally, Jasper took a turn on his own (which he apparently refused to do last year, but I guess we've both grown quite a bit since then...)

And after that I ran myself ragged checking out and trying out every - and I do mean e-v-e-r-y - play element available in the park. I don't have the energy to tell you about each and every one, so I'll just let you have a look -

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 I loved them all, except for one - this little spinny thing that Daddy insisted on putting me in...

 

But all in all, it was great fun. Thanks for showing me this great new playground, Jasper!

Cooling off

It was HOT over Easter weekend at Dziadek and Babcia's house in New Jersey - and I mean hot as in peak of Summer hot. Or at least that's how it felt to me and Jasper. So by Monday, with the temperature still rising, Jasper and I needed to cool off. Jasper suggested that we play in the sprinkler in the back yard, but I pointed out that since we weren't expecting Summer weather in April, we didn't bring any shorts, much less bathing suits. But Jasper insisted that we could improvise, and so we did...

Is that water I see sprinkling back there?

Why, yes it is, and it's cold!

  

But on a hot day like this, it actually felt great, so good in fact, that we couldn't resist but get right into the sprinkler.

 Ah, nice and cool now - and planning to stay that way!

Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday, I got to participate in my very first Easter Egg Hunt. I wasn't quite sure what it was all about. Daddy just gave me an empty basket and told me to go. Luckily, I had Jasper around to show me the ropes. Jasper has been talking about Easter and the Easter Egg Hunt for the past week. He took me under his wing as we got started.

But I quickly got the idea and I was off on my own searching for colorful eggs in the grass, under the bushes and behind rocks.

Meanwhile, Jasper was off on the other side of the lawn gathering his own eggs.

After we found all of the eggs, we got together to count them to see who found the most. Guess what? We tied! We both found 9 eggs each. I thought that was the end of the game but Jasper informed me that there was more - there are prizes inside the eggs. We opened up all of our eggs to find out what was inside - stickers, parachute men, jibbitz for our crocs, and chocolate!!

Jasper enjoyed the chocolate prizes the most. He quickly switched all of our eggs so that I had all of the Elmo stickers and he got all of the chocolate. Hmmm, we'll have to do something about that next year. Here he is enjoying a chocolate egg at 9am.

I, on the other hand, was just so excited about my Easter basket. I wouldn't let go of it all day. I kept trying to take all of Jasper's eggs out of his basket too. He didn't seem to like that so much.

Family vacation ends, Easter vacation begins

So today was our last day in Washington, DC. Since we were planning to leave right after lunch so Jasper and I could nap in the can, we only had time for a morning activity, which today turned out to be another playdate with new friends - this time with Will and Matt, who are the kids of Daddy's business school friend, Alex. We went over bright and early, and Jasper quickly buddied up with Matt - not only are they close in age, but the seem to also share a passion for reading books - especially Curious George and books about trains.

 

Once we were able to tear them away from their books, we all had a great brunch, and then the obligatory kids' photograph.

 

And then we hit the road, and after a long drive with too much traffic in our way (during which Jasper and I were very good boys, hardly complaining at all) we arrived - not in Brooklyn, but at Dziadek and Babcia's house!  We're going to spend Easter and then a couple of extra days here, and Jasper and I got right down to business reacquainting ourselves with some of the toys that are too big to fit in our house in Brooklyn so get stored for our visits to New Jersey, like our cruiser wagon...

And basketball hoop - I dunked every size ball I could get my hands on!

 Meanwhile, Jasper (with a little help from Babcia) kept himself entertained and amused by enabling my ball obsession...

 You know that as soon as I saw what he was up to...

 I wouldn't be able to help myself...

 I think Jasper knew it too, and got a good laugh out of it. Well, as he said when he took his dunk in the fountain the other day - not funny, guys!
