Knuffle Bunny LIVE!

Yesterday, Mommy and I went on an adventure yesterday afternoon. First, we walked to the subway. We took the train to Manhattan and got off at 8th Street. Then, Mommy punched an address into her phone and gave it to me. I had to find our way to our final destination. We were the blinking blue dot...

and I followed the black line until we got to the red pin! Here we are! "Wait, where are we Mommy?" I asked.

We arrived at a theatre at NYU and we were going to see a special performance of Knuffle Bunny - a Cautionary Musical! It was my early birthday present from Mommy and Daddy. For those of you who aren't familiar with Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems, it's one of my favorite books. Actually, a series of three books but the musical follows the story in the first book when Trixie and her Daddy go off to the laundromat with Trixie's beloved Knuffle Bunny in tow. But things quickly go all wrong and, well, I don't want to ruin the book for you if you haven't read it yet!

This was my first theatre experience (not counting the puppet shows that I've seen while at school) and I loved it. It was a silly show and they sang silly songs. At the end, the actors even answered questions that kids had about the show. To top it all off, Mommy and I went out to a special pizza dinner afterwards!

Thanks Mommy and Daddy for my birthday present! I had so much fun.

While Daddy's away

OK. OK. I know that we haven't blogged in almost a week and I know that I personally have not blogged for almost a week and a half but Everett and I have been a little blue. You see, Mommy and Daddy have both been really busy lately and traveling for work. Plus, Daddy's away on a work trip again this week. But, that does mean that we get extra visitors to come and play with us. 5 Yee Pau has come to play with us a few times and to bring us yummy food to eat. This week, Babcia is here! Everett and I each took turns staying home from school to spend time with her.

And then, yesterday, I had a special visitor come pick me up from school - Auntie Tracy! She was very happy to see me and her godson. But mostly, I think that she was happy to be back in New York because she and Mommy got to go to see Bon Jovi last night at MSG.

While it's been a rough couple of weeks, Everett and I have stuck together. See? Look how Everett loves me. Daddy, are you coming home soon?

Weekend with Mommy

Mommy, Daddy, Jasper and I had big plans for this holiday weekend. We were all going to go down to Babcia and Dziadek's house for an extended stay, quality time with the pets and some time off for Mommy and Daddy. But, I had some other ideas in mind.

First, on Wednesday, after going to my 18-month doctor's appointment, I decided that I would start to "not feel well" at school that afternoon and manifested a slight fever and rash, prompting my teachers to call Mommy to pick me up. So she did and she decided to keep me home on Thursday so that I could get a little extra rest and attention.

But I kind of liked having her undivided attention so when I went back to school on Friday, I quickly developed another "fever," resulting in another call home. So, instead of everyone going to New Jersey for the weekend, I convinced Mommy to stay at home with me so that I could get better. And I'm feeling much better now - can't you tell?

Chewing gum for the mind

What could turn two otherwise relatively intelligent boys into gaped-mouth, blank-stare zombies?

 What else?

Maybe there's a good reason why Mommy and Daddy restrict our electronic media consumption after all?...

Feeling the love

Wow, it looks like I have quite a few admirers at school, judging by all the red and pink heart-shaped cards I got today...
And the best part? Some of them came with candy! It wasn't easy sneaking some of that candy into my mouth while Mommy and Daddy weren't paying attention, but sneak it I did...

Boy, I was really feeling the love today.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Playdate with Hugo

Mommy is away in Memphis, TN for work this week, so Daddy has been taking care of me and Jasper the past couple of days. But I guess he's been working quite a bit lately as well, and between and that and taking care of us, he seems to have run out of juice at the end of the week, and decided to take a "mental health" day off work today.  And guess what? He also decided to keep me home with him all day instead of bringing me to daycare!

Not only that, but Daddy also arranged a special morning play-date for me with my buddy Hugo. As you might remember, Hugo is Jasper's friend's Leonie's little brother, and about the same age as me.  Hugo and I had lots of fun goofing around and playing around the house, especially since Jasper and Leonie were at school, so we had the run of the house to ourselves.

While at first I had a little trouble sharing all my toys with Hugo...

Soon enough we warmed-up to each other, and I showed Hugo how to play with all my favorite toys, like the shape sorter -

 And the DVD player...

What? The DVD player is not a toy? Then why does it have a button labeled "play"? Hmmmm?...

The long walk home

The long walk home from daycare, that is. On average, it takes Daddy about an hour to pick up me and Jasper after school, and get us home. Why so long, you ask? Well, first off, Jasper's school and my school are on opposite ends of our neighborhood, about a mile from each other, with our house right in the middle. So Daddy goes to get Jasper first in one direction, then goes back by our house and then another half-mile in the opposite direction to get me, before we all turn around and start the long walk home...

And it's this last stretch that is apparently the longest of all. Not necessarily in terms of distance, mind you, but in terms of how much time it takes us to cover that distance. Because while Jasper whips right along on his scooter (yes, even in winter...)

I prefer to cover the distance (and often the entire distance home) on foot...

And of course, there are lots of stops along the way, to enjoy the sights and sounds of the neighborhood and look in shop windows...

Pick up some groceries and have a snack...

And of course stop at all the red lights...

As you might have noticed, sometimes Daddy seems to be in a bit more of a hurry, and tries to get me to ride in the stroller to move things along a little more quickly. I'll tolerate that for a while, but it typically doesn't last very long...

Aaaah, yes, I thought so, Daddy... back on my feet just like I like it...

This is much better, don't you think?

Where's Mommy?

Have you seen my Mommy? I seem to have misplaced her. Where did she go? Juno, have you seen my Mommy lately?

Developing my penmanship

I've been watching my big brother Jasper do a lot of writing lately - that seems to have become one of his  favorite things to do...

And I think he's getting pretty good at it, too!

So of course, like with many other things, I want to get in on the game and mimic him, except I like to get a lot more comfortable and use a lot more color when practicing my own penmanship...

What do you think? Can you spot the letters?

Well, OK, so neither can I - yet. But I plan to catch-up to Jasper soon!

On a completely unrelated note, why must I look so disheveled by the time dinner is over every night?
