Happy Birthday, Mommy!

We're old enough to know how old *you* are now!

Haircut time

If you haven't noticed, my hair has been getting quite long. Mommy finally got around to taking me to get my hair cut after school. I've been to this hair salon a couple of times now so I feel pretty comfortable there. I strolled in, plopped down on the seat and asked for a lollipop and bubbles. As you can see from the pictures, I have already finished a blue lollipop and am not working on the bubbles.

Jasper had to tag along too. However, since the hair salon is in the middle of renovations, there wasn't really anywhere for him to sit. So he plopped down in the Bumbo on the floor. And don't worry. That's just a lollipop sticking out of his mouth.

A hill, a tire swing and a sunny day...

It doesn't take much to make us happy...

The Wrestler

I think Daddy is hoping that Everett will go to college on a wrestling scholarship...

But I know that this is just Everett's favorite way of expressing his affection for me! Can you feel the love?!

If you want to play in the park...

You have to know the rules!

Just in case you didn't catch that, the rules are:

- No fire
- Throw trash in the trashcan
- No dogs
- No smoking
- No drinking alcohol
- No bike riding
- Parents stay with your children

That last one is my favorite!

Weekend wrap-up

A great end to a fun weekend. No water, but I managed to squeeze into my Sunday plenty of QT and playtime with Everett, a birthday party with entertainment by Carmelo the Science Fellow, who it turns out is hilarious (as you can see in the pictures) and a bus ride and play date with a good friend.

I wish everyday could be a sunny summer Sunday!

The summer of water

Considering we had a very mild and relatively warm winter, and the heat with which the summer has kicked-off, we have a feeling that it's going to be a really hot summer in New York this year. And given that, we've decided that we're going to make it the "summer of water." It'll help us stay cool, it'll help us continue to learn to swim, and of course, we love just being in and around the water no matter what!

To kick things off, we've already been to Rockaway Beach a few weeks ago, we of course swim in our pool at Dziadek and Babcia's house whenever we can, and we've both re-signed for swim classes for the next few weeks. On top of that, we have a late summer vacation planned in Montauk, Long Island, one of the best beach areas around here, we're really looking forward to city pools opening next week and plan to take full advantage of them, Daddy and Mommy have already promised to teach us how to surf, and we have a feeling that at least a couple of additional water-centric weekend trips will be planned.

Wow, just writing all that down for ourselves already feels like a lot of water - we'll see how it works out throughout the summer months - and whether the summer will be as hot as we predict. But in any case, it's hot now, and with Mommy away for the weekend, Dziadek came to visit so of course we wanted to show him Rockaway Beach, about which he'd read here.

To shake things up, instead of going to the surfing beach at 90th St. like last time, we instead took Dziadek to Jacob Riis Park, which is in Rockaway but is run by the National Park Service. It's a great wide beach with lots of facilities and lifeguards, perfect for little boys. And of course there's plenty of sand, which we could barely wait to dig into - and dig we did!

Jasper tried to dig his way all the way to China...

Are we there yet?

Jasper also made some great sand castles -

Though I think you can guess what happened once I saw them...

They don't call me Brodzilla for nothing!

But the main event, of course, was the ocean. Jasper and I both ventured out into the water, which is still a bit chilly.

I was still a little weary of the cool water, and especially the waves, so didn't go too far in.

Jasper, on the other hand, plunged right in.

Right on, Jasper. I'm in the water with you in spirit, if not in person!

Have a great trip, Mommy!

This morning, Mommy left for a weekend trip to see a friend, so we're at home with just Daddy, where we have him outnumbered...

And right where we want him...

Have fun, Mommy - we sure will!

Hot, hot, hot

Wow, what a start to the Summer - total heat wave, with 100 degree temperatures in NYC this week. And how do two little boys stay cool? Water park, of course!

Stay cool, everyone!
