Cherry Blossoms

Spring is such a fun season - I think that it might be my favorite so far. Since I'm more of a little person now than I was last year at this time, I can begin to fully enjoy all the neat things around me. The trees and the flowers are blooming and there's bright green grass on the ground. What better place to experience it all than the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

I was most surprised by blooming trees. I thought that trees only had leaves on them. Who knew?!

But these trees had pretty pink blossoms - cherry blossoms. Does that mean that they are going to turn into cherries? Do they smell like cherries to you Daddy?

We also paid a visit to the Japanese gardens to see the goldfish swimming in the pond. I'm trying really hard but I don't see any! Do you? I think that they need to clean the pond out. It's looking a little bit murky. I don't know if I would want to swim in there. I'll stick to the pool for now. Bye bye fishes.

My days with Ah-Boo

While Mommy and Daddy were away, Ah-Boo and I had lots of fun together. I bet some of you were wondering how Ah-Boo could handle me all by herself for 5 whole days and what we could possibly be doing. Well, I had lots of visitors over the weekend to entertain me and help keep me from missing Mommy and Daddy - 4 Yee Pau, 5 Yee Pau, 6 Yee Pau and Josephine Pau Pau. They were so much fun to play with and let me do lots of things that Mommy doesn't normally let me do. Here are some pictures from that past 5 days.

I got to help Ah-Boo with the laundry. I just love clean, warm towels straight from the dryer.

I also got to play with Mommy's magnets and rearrange them all over the refrigerator, dishwasher and garbage can...

I had my first bubble bath...

And my first chicken drumstick!

I even got to make lots of long distance phone calls.

But the best part of all was being spoiled rotten. Ah-Boo bought me a new toy every day!! We rode the bus along 5th Avenue to Target and Lulu's to buy toys. You don't think that she was trying to bribe me to behave, do you? Here's my favorite new toy. I can't quite get on it by myself but I'm really good and dismounting - right onto the floor! hee hee.

I had lots of fun all week! I loved being able to stay in my pajamas all day long because it doesn't seem like Ah-Boo or the Yee-Paus ever changed my clothes!

Trip?

Okay! I'm all ready for our trip to Cabo San Lucas for Auntie Dina's wedding! I can't wait. I feel like it's been forever since I've had a vacation. Oh!!!!!!!!!! And the airplane! I bet it will be so much more fun now that I can "walk" up and down the aisles. Look - I even got a new sun hat for the beach. How do you like it? Check it out from the side.

Wait, Mommy just whispered something in my ear. Hold on, I can't hear her while I'm typing... What do you mean I'M NOT GOING???!?!?!?!

Fine! If they're leaving me behind, I'm not blogging. Ha! They won't be able to see all the fun that I'm having with Ah-Boo. I didn't like this stupid hat anyways.

Ah-Boo is Back in Town

I'm very sorry that I haven't blogged lately but I have a good reason - Ah-Boo is here and I've been having way too much fun playing with her. By the end of the day, I'm so tired that I collapse into bed and fall right asleep.

Ah-Boo has been playing lots of new games with me. AND she lets me roam into her room to play which has so many new things for me to discover and make a mess of - lots of books, boxes of old clothes, boxes of old and new toys, extra toilet paper... No wonder Mommy never lets me in there!

The other exciting thing is that I got a new jacket just in time for baseball season! Too bad the Yankees are starting the season off a little slowly but I have faith in the young pitchers. If people didn't have faith in the rookies, where would that leave us? I just hope that people will believe in me when I'm a rookie in the big leagues.

Good weekend nap

There's nothing quite like a good, long nap on the weekend, especially on a nice warm spring Sunday... I always wake up so refreshed and happy!

I wish everyday was the weekend!

Helping Out

Spring is finally here! It's been absolutely beautiful outside the last couple of days - bright blue skies, sunny and warm. Mommy and I have been taking advantage of the nice weather with lots of walks around the neighborhood and trips to the playground. Today, we had a lovely picnic in Prospect Park with a bunch of my baby friends. It brought back fond memories of last year when the new mommies and babies would meet up in the park. Oh, those were the days - just lying around on the grass and not being able to move. But not anymore! Me and my friends had fun crawling and toddling around on the grass, throwing sticks and digging in the dirt. With all these adventures outside, I've gotten to be a pretty dirty little boy by the end of the day. So today, I decided to help Mommy get a jump start on the laundry.

I even helped sort the whites and the colors...

Impatient

I just can't wait to run... I mean walk! I figure that if I just move faster, my momentum will help me balance and keep me from falling down. That makes sense, right?

Surprise visit from Dziadek

What a surprise! First Babcia came to visit, and now Dziadek came to see me too, so now I'm getting even more attention...

Dziadek spent all day playing with me and feeding me - isn't that what Dziadeks are for?

And to make things ever more fun, I got to open a new toy that Mommy and Daddy have been saving for a special occasion - another great surprise!

Wow, so many great surprises in one weekend - can there possibly be any more?!

Babcia came to visit me today - yay! We always have so much fun, and this visit was no exception!

Having Babcia around always makes me smile :-)

Stacking Rings

I've had these stacking rings since I was a couple of weeks old. At first, I would just sit and stare at them, admiring the pretty colors and lights. Then, I start playing with them. I would pull all of the rings off the center stacker. Mommy would try to show me how to put the rings back on but as soon as she got one ring on, I would promptly remove it. I particularly liked the big fat yellow star that goes on top. Good to chew on. Shortly thereafter, I figured out how to make the lights blink and the music play - by pushing the little buttons on the stacker! No need to actually put the rings back on. And today, I've made a fine motor skill breakthrough. I can put the rings back on the stacker. I'm kind of proud of myself. Wouldn't you be too?

Playground Antics

It was such a nice day out today that Mommy took me to the playground not once but twice! First we went to the newly renovated 3rd Street playground and then, in the afternoon, we stopped by the Tot Lot. Since I'm feeling better these days (minus the constant running nose and phlegmy cough), I had a good old time crawling and cruising around the playground.

My favorite thing to do is to dig in the dirt in between the tiles on the playground. Here's a picture of me in action. I particularly like to use one finger and dig as deep as I can into the dirt, making sure to trap as much dirt as possible underneath my fingernails. Mommy just loves that. I also like to pick up leaves, sticks and pebbles and hand them over to Mommy. She seemed to appreciate my efforts because she says "Thank you" every time I hand her something. I must be doing something right, no? Mommy was also saying how happy she was that she dressed me in my fresh, clean, light-colored khaki corduroys today. I think that I sensed a little bit of sarcasm in her voice... I mean, they're not that dirty.

Happy Birthday to Everyone!

I'm sorry for the alarmist blog post yesterday. I've just been a little under the weather the last couple of days. Yesterday, I was particularly cranky and tired so I didn't feel much like blogging. Plus, I had to rest up for my birthday party today. Well, it wasn't just my birthday party but a joint birthday party with 30 of my closest friends in the neighborhood who all have turned 1 or will turn 1 this spring. We've all known each other our whole lives! We met back when Mommy used to meet up with all the other new mommies at Cafe 11 and in Prospect Park. Look how many mommies and babies there are!

And daddies and babies too! Can you spot me?

Since there were so many babies in the room, we all had to wear name tags... on our backs.

We played lots of games, blew bubbles, and played with a parachute. The highlight of the party was when Owen came to play music for us. Owen is the husband of Daddy's co-worker, Ramona. He played lots of fun songs for us and even had us dance like big long choo-choo train!

After all the celebration, singing and dancing, I felt much better. Can't you tell?

Cable TV

Mommy and Daddy finally got cable TV. Now I can sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

P.S. I think that I need to buy a new pair of jeans. The snaps on this pair keeps coming undone! Am I getting fat?

My Final Post

Well my dear readers, it is with mixed emotions that I tell you that I have decided to make this the final post of my blog. Oh no! Why are you ending the blog you ask? There are several reasons:
  • First, truth be told, I've run out of material. All the key events have been covered - my 1st birthday, my eating habits, my allergies, my surgery, my trips, my girlfriends... you get the picture.
  • Second, Blogger, the service I use for my blog, has limited the amount of free space each account gets. I have just about used up all the space that's been allotted to me and would now have to pay to blog. I think many of you know how Daddy feels about spending (his) hard earned money for such frivolities.
  • Finally, as some of you might have guessed, I don't know how to type yet so I have to rely on Mommy and Daddy to transcribe my thoughts for me. As I get older and more active, they don't always have the time or the energy to be my scribe after dealing with me for a full day.
Maybe, someday, when I have my own money, can type for myself, and have new adventures to write about, I will restart the blog. But for now, I leave you with some final pictures.

Thanks for the memories,
Jasper Henry Yu-Dawidowicz
