Snow globes

Believe it or not, even though Christmas was more than a moth ago, there are still some gifts that Jasper and I received that we hadn't played with - like our "Make your own snow-globe" kits. But what better time to break them out than a long and somewhat boring after-school afternoon when the weather outside is too cold and rainy to go out?

Luckily, we remembered that we still had the globe kits stashed away, and were able to spend a super-fun afternoon putting them together. First, we unwrapped all the parts, and separated the special clay into its different colors.

Then we rolled out some of the clay to make bases for our sculptures that would go inside our globes.

And then, the sculptures themselves - both Everett and I settled on a "whimsical castle" motif for our globes - 

Once we completed our our mini-sculptures, into the oven they went, to bake nice and hard. 

We kept a watchful eye over them for a while...

But then remembered we still had to decorate the bases, so they'd be ready once the sculptures came out of the oven.

We also took the opportunity to add some glitter to the globes themselves - they are snow-globes, after all...

Then, the big moment was finally near - we filled the globes with water

And once our sculpture masterpieces came out of the oven, Daddy helped place each one inside its own globe, filled with water and glitter.

We love them!

In fact, Everett loves his so much that he insisted on wearing part of it the rest of the night!
